The world's most celebrated variety.
Gesha (or Geisha) is the most sought-after coffee variety on earth. Originating in the Gesha district of southwestern Ethiopia, it was transplanted to Panama in the 1960s and only rediscovered as an exceptional cup in 2004. We source it at origin and at its apex.
Panama Gesha
Panama · Boquete · Chiriquí Highlands
Panama Gesha is the most expensive coffee ever sold at public auction. Grown on the volcanic slopes of Volcán Barú, the bean's Ethiopian heritage expresses itself with crystalline floral complexity that no other terroir replicates.

Ethiopia Gesha Village
Ethiopia · Bench Sheko · Kaffa Forest
Gesha takes its name from this district of southwestern Ethiopia. The Gesha Village Coffee Estate cultivates wild-type Gesha at 1,900–2,200m within the Kaffa Forest Biosphere Reserve. The cup is both the origin and the pinnacle.

The archives of antiquity.
Yemen Mocha
Yemen · Haraaz · Bani Mattar
Yemen is where the world first drank coffee. Ancient landrace varieties such as Udaini, Dawairi, and Ismaili are grown on stone-terraced mountain farms at 2,000–2,500m. The beans are tiny and irregular; the cup is monumental. Chocolate-soaked fruit, wild ferment, and savoury depth.
Dark Chocolate · Dried Fig · Cardamom · Tamarind · Wild Ferment
Congo: Hidden Gem
DR Congo · South Kivu Highlands
DR Congo is specialty coffee's most dramatic hidden gem. The South Kivu highlands around Lake Kivu sit at 1,400–1,800m with rich volcanic soil. Bourbon and Typica grown by cooperatives near Bukavu produce cups of extraordinary richness.

Beyond Arabica. Liberica & Excelsa.
Coffea liberica and its variety Excelsa represent less than 2% of global coffee production. We carry both because rarity paired with traceability is the very definition of what Half Day Coffiee exists to find.
Philippine Barako
Coffea liberica is a distinct species. The Philippine Barako has been cultivated in Batangas since the Spanish colonial era. Our lots come directly from two multigenerational family estates in Lipa City, naturally sun-dried on raised beds.
Jackfruit · Smoked Wood · Dark Berry · Full Body
Excelsa: Ultra-Rare
Excelsa was long used to add depth to commodity blends; however, its potential as a single-origin micro-lot went entirely unexplored until recently. The profile is polarising and complex: simultaneously tart and dark, fruity and earthy.
Tamarind · Dark Fruit · Roasted Nut · Earthy Finish

“Luxury is meaningless if it is built on compromise. We roast for the farmer as much as the connoisseur.”
